FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be military-connected to participate?
Patriot Guardens was created to serve veterans and military families, and they remain our primary focus. However, many workshops are open to the broader community. By learning together, we strengthen both military families and West Virginia’s local economy.

Is the program really free?
Yes. Core workshops and programming are completely free thanks to grants and partnerships. We believe access to education and opportunity should not be limited by cost.

Is there a minimum number of workshops I need to attend?
There is no strict minimum. However, to be considered an active participant — and remain eligible for advanced opportunities such as Patriot Pop-Up vending — individuals should remain consistently engaged through attendance or review of workshop materials.

What outcomes can participants expect?
Participants gain practical agricultural and business skills, increased confidence, expanded professional networks, and, in many cases, products or services ready for market. Many go on to launch or expand small businesses, access new retail opportunities, or increase household income.
